El Alamein Military Museum commemorates the Second World War battle that took place on the Egyptian soil. The museum is adjacent to cemeteries for the killed soldiers. President Gamal Abd El-Nasser opened the Museum in 1956, to highlight the events of the battle through the display of the weapons, military uniforms, personal belongings, and personal letters. A Memorial of Peace was erected outside the museum and devoted to world peace. The garden shows seldom German, Italian and British tanks, artillery and transportation vehicles in a very good state of preservation.

1. Description

This well maintained war museum is dedicated to the battles of El Alamein (1942) and the Second World War in North Africa. The museum contains the following halls:

-Egyptian hall This hall is devoted to the Egyptian people who aided the Allied forces in the war against Nazi Germany.

-Commonwealth hall: This hall is devoted to the Commonwealth soldiers who fought in battles of El Alamein and other places in North Africa. There are many weapons, maps and uniforms on display.

Italian hall: This hall contains Italian uniforms and pictures of the Italian defeat at El Alamein.

German hall: This hall is devoted to the German army during the battles of El Alamein and other battles in North Africa. There are uniforms, maps and weapons on display.

Mixed hall The "Mixed Hall" is probably the most interesting hall of the museum because it shows both sides were involved in the war. Models demonstrates the battles that took place here. Outside exhibition There are many military vehicles and guns that were used in the battles of El Alamein on display outside the museum. Some of them are bearing war damage.

2. History

The Al-Alemein War Museum is located 105 kilometers west of Alexandria. Al-Alamein Military Museum was founded on the 16th of December, 1956, when the president Gamal Abd Elnasser ordered its establishment to commemorate Egypt's fundamental role in one of the most important battles of World War II, Al-Alamein battle, which broke out between the allies and the Axis Powers in October 1942.make a new experience with Magic life tours and visit Al-Alamein Military Museum.
